Intello Retired, Stud Deal Revealed

Wertheimer Et Frere’s Intello (Ger) (Galileo {Ire}–Impressionnante {GB}, by Danehill), winner of this year’s G1 Prix du Jockey Club, has been retired and will enter stud next year at Cheveley Park Stud in Newmarket, England. Intello is also set to stand the 2015 season at Cheveley Park before moving to the Head family’s Haras du Quesnay for the following two years. He will stand for £25,000.
Unbeaten in two starts at two, Intello ventured to Newmarket to take the Listed Feilden S. on his sophomore debut Apr. 17. An unlucky third in the G1 Poule d’Essai des Poulains next out May 12, he gained redemption in the Prix du Jockey Club. Doubling up in the G3 Prix Messidor a month later, Intello next finished third, beaten 1 3/4 lengths, by Moonlight Cloud (GB) (Invincible Spirit {Ire}) in the G1 Jacques Le Marois Aug. 11 and, after returning to the winner’s circle in the G3 Prix de Prince d’Orange Sept. 21, would close his career with an admiral third behind Treve (Fr) (Motivator {GB}) and Orfevre (Jpn) (Stay Gold {Jpn}) in the G1 Prix de l’Arc de Triomphe Oct. 6.
"We are delighted to be standing such a talented racehorse as Intello, who compliments and expands the portfolio of outstanding stallions currently standing at Cheveley Park Stud,” said Cheveley Park Managing Director Chris Richardson. “An arrangement between three world class breeding operations brings together the opportunity for European breeders to benefit from this new and very exciting initiative.”
Freddy Head, a director of Haras du Quesnay, added: “We are delighted to be associated with such a good looking, tough and versatile horse as Intello. We look forward to working together with both Wertheimer Et Frere and Cheveley Park Stud, and hope that Intello proves to be as good a stallion as he was a racehorse."
