Cirrus des Aigles (Fr) (Even Top {Ire}), the highest-rated International horse set to take part in Sunday's Longines Hong Kong International Races, has been declared from the G1 Hong Kong Cup after sustaining an injury to his left fore tendon.
“It's disappointing to miss the race but he is not right and will need a rest," trainer Corine Barande-Barbe said of the 6-year-old gelding. "I think it is not too serious and you will see him again next year, I hope. We had to stop now to ensure things did not get worse and we will give him the time he needs. I would love to come back to Hong Kong. I very much want to win here!” Cirrus des Aigles was making his fourth trip to Hong Kong. Winner of the G1 Dubai Sheema Classic last March, he was exiting a runner-up effort to Frankel (GB) (Galileo {Ire}) in the G1 QIPCO Champion S. at Ascot Oct. 20.
