ZEKES SURPRISE (f, 2, Frost Giant--Marquet Rate, by Marquetry) took plenty of tote support in her May 23 debut over a muddy main track, but was caught three wide and raced greenly in the stretch to finish third, beaten three lengths. Restrained just off the pace here, the 2-1 joint-favorite made a line of three while widest at the five-sixteenths, swept in front at the quarter pole and quickened up nicely for a 6 1/2-length victory. She is the first winner for her well-received first-crop sire (by Giant's Causeway), a dual Group 3 winner on the Irish turf and victorious in the 2008 GI Suburban H.
