Summer Front got off to a fast start as a 2-year-old, winning his first three on the grass, including Aqueduct's King Cugat S. and Dania Beach S. at Gulfstream. Runner-up behind All Squared Away (Bellamy Road) in the 1 1/16-mile GIII Lexington S. over the Keeneland Poly Apr. 21, the bay endured a troubled trip to be eighth in the nine-furlong GII Peter Pan S. over Belmont's main track May 12. Back on the green stuff last time, the Waterford Stable runner came home a narrow winner over Howe Great (Hat Trick {Jpn}) in the GIII Hill Prince S. June 16. Settled in fifth in the early going of this one, Summer Front swung out four wide turning for home, drove down the center of the course to take over in deep stretch and drew clear to collect his second straight victory.
