4th at FGXAlw/Opt. Clm. ($46k)  [1m (T)]Winner: Solitary Ranger, c, 3 by U S Ranger
Susan Moulton's Solitary Ranger (c, 3, U S Ranger--Galileo's Star, by Lil E. Tee) had already proven his mettle over synthetic tracks, having broken his maiden in the GIII Arlington-Washington Futurity Sept. 7. Prior to that effort, he rounded out the exacta behind Pablo del Monte (Giant's Causeway) at Keeneland Apr. 5 and behind subsequent G1 Prix Morny hero No Nay Never (Scat Daddy) in Lexington Apr. 26. He was last seen finishing ninth as the lukewarm 7-2 favorite in the GI Dixiana Breeders' Futurity over the Keeneland Poly Oct. 5 and was sent off the 7-5 chalk while switching to the turf for the first time. Bounced away from the gate by Florent Geroux, Solitary Ranger set a solid pace over yielding ground while getting some token pressure from Bad Student (Student Council). He had that one hard at it turning for home and raced on a clear lead past the final furlong before holding market rival Kids Rule (Lemon Drop Kid) by a little more than a length. Final time for the grassy mile was 1:39.83. O-Susan Moulton. B-Richard Forbush & U S Ranger Syndicate (KY). T-Wayne Catalano.
