TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

+LAKE DANCER (f, 2, Tapit--Comacina {MSW, $169,105}, by Dixie Union) was the second-highest-priced offering at the Flying Zee dispersal last October at Fasig-Tipton when selling for $170,000 to the account of Mark Casse. With a sharp series of works under her belt, the grey went postward at 2-1 and came through despite some early trouble. She broke a step slowly and settled at the back down on the rail, but didn't appear too happy to be getting dirt in her face. Jockey Shaun Bridgmohan guided her off the fence on the turn and Lake Dancer responded strongly, rallying up the center of the track en route to a two-length success. Favored Sunset Time (Johannesburg) won the battle for second from Queen Nine (Henny Hughes). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $25,920. Click for the brisnet.com chart. Video, sponsored by Taylor Made Sales.
