Centre Court, put away following a fifth in her debut on the Churchill dirt last July, missed by a head in her turf bow at Gulfstream Mar. 3. She came up 3/4 of a length short to Colonial Flag (Pleasant Tap) on the Keeneland sod Apr. 15 before graduating stylishly over this course May 19. The Humphrey homebred was seeded highly here and tucked into a good spot just off the pace. Jockey Javier Castellano opted for a four-wide journey turning for home and Centre Court delivered an ace. The dark bay drifted out a bit, but never really bumped Colonial Flag, and dug in gamely for her first black-type success.
