TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

1st at DMR  [6f (AW)]Winner: Midnight Ballet, f, 2 by Midnight Lute
1st-DMR, $70,350, Msw, 2yo, f, 6f (AWT), 1:11 2/5, ft.
+MIDNIGHT BALLET (f, 2, Midnight Lute--Buzz Song {SW}, by Unbridled's Song) did her best impersonation of her freshman sire (by Real Quiet) and, in the process, became his second winner on the afternoon and third winner overall. The $100,000 KEESEP yearling, like everyone else in the field, looked like she'd be battling for a minor award when second-time-starter Kinz Funky Monkey (The Green Monkey) blazed out from the gate and opened up by 10 or so lengths. That foe still carried a huge advantage into the lane as Midnight Ballet, last early, tipped wide for her run, but she slowed to a crawl in the final eighth, and Midnight Ballet came flying with huge strides to get up and take it by a neck at odds of 8-1. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $42,000. Click for the brisnet.com chart or the video, sponsored by Taylor Made Sales.
