TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

4th at CDXAlw/Opt. Clm.  [1 1/16m]Winner: Funny Proposition, f, 3 by Medaglia d'Oro
4th-CDX, $52,873, Alw, Opt. Clm. ($75,000), NW1X, 3yo, f, 1 1/16m, 1:42 4/5, ft.
FUNNY PROPOSITION (f, 3, Medaglia d'Oro--Humorous Miss {SW, $115,200}, by Distorted Humor) led past every pole to take her debut over six furlongs of this track last Independence Day, but went missing thereafter. The $275,000 FTSAUG yearling blew the break in her Apr. 6 return to action over the Keeneland Polytrack, pulled her way into a share of the lead through the middle of the race and weakened slightly to be third. One of the first away, Funny Proposition was handy to the pace while stalking three wide into the backstretch. She began to creep forward midway on the final bend, edged to the front in upper stretch, switched her leads right on cue and went on to post a promising 2 1/2-length victory as the 9-5 chalk. Uptown Bertie (More Than Ready) was second best. Lifetime Record: 3-2-0-1, $62,540. Click for the brisnet.com chart or Video, sponsored by Taylor Made Sales.
