TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

Great Heavens ran fifth at Haydock in her only juvenile start last September, and stepped up from a May 10 Yarmouth maiden win to add to her illustrious dam's list of black-type performers in this stakes debut. She settled on the lead after an alert exit from the gates and maintained control throughout. Shaken up when threatened by Miss Cato inside the three-furlong marker, the homebred bay kept on strongly under final-quarter urging to easily see off that rival for a career high. "She's a sweet filly, who showed some promise last year," trainer John Gosden told PA Sport. "I have spaced her races out, and this was an attractive race to run her in. We'll look to move straight into a Group 3 race now, as she doesn't have many miles on the clock." Click for the Racing Post chart. Video, courtesy Racing UK.
