After recording her first Pattern-race success in the G3 Oak Tree S. over seven furlongs at Goodwood in July, Chachamaidee was third in the G3 Sceptre S. over that trip in September and second in the G1 Sun Chariot S. over a mile at Newmarket later that month. Signing off with another runner-up placing in the G2 Challenge S. back over seven at the latter venue in October, the hooded bay raced in rear initially on this return. With six rivals still ahead at the furlong pole, she delivered a telling burst to swoop on the long-time leader Night Lily in the final 50 yards and ultimately dominate the contest. "She's in the G1 Queen Anne S. [at Royal Ascot June 19] and the [June 20] G2 Windsor Forest S. there and I'd rather see her take on her own sex," trainer Sir Henry Cecil explained. "She dwelt and hesitated when they jumped from the gates so had too much to do really, but I thought she was very impressive the way she went."
