TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

One of Britain's up-and-coming fillies, Electrelane has shown marked improvement since finishing a well-beaten third behind stable companion Moonstone Magic (GB) (Trade Fair {GB}) on only her third career start in the seven-furlong G3 Fred Darling S. at Newbury on her sophomore bow Apr. 21. Pulling clear of the remainder along with Laugh Out Loud (GB) (Clodovil {Ire}) when second in the Listed Michael Seely Memorial S. over this trip at York last time May 18, her chances looked vastly more favorable after that rival had won the G2 Prix de Sandringham earlier in the afternoon and the Dusseldorf faithful took the hint. Always prominent on the inside here, the bay was pushed into a narrow lead at the top of the stretch and held on gamely under a drive to withstand Cherry Danon's persistent challenge.
