TDN MAGAZINE, As the Science Gets Better, Catching the Cheats Becomes Easier: Part V of A Painful Truth: No matter the sport, cheaters have always stayed one step ahead of those trying to catch them by doping with as-yet undetectable products. But what if authorities didn't need to determine what the products were, only what the specimin should look like if unaltered by any drug? Meet the biological passport, and Travis Tygart, the man who has successfully routed out two of sports' most defiant cheats, Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones, neither of whom had ever tested positive.    Held in high esteem by Roger Varian, Aljamaaheer opened his account on debut over six furlongs at Yarmouth in October, but was only fourth when sent off the 5-4 favorite for a decent seven-furlong handicap at Newbury on his sophomore bow Apr. 20. That form was boosted when the winner Gregorian (Ire) (Clodovil {Ire}) ran a close-up fifth in Sunday's G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains, and Aljamaaheer duly took his own step forward here to register a first black-type success. Held up early with only one behind, the chestnut as full of run inside the final quarter and, when asked the question, swooped to the lead passing the furlong pole. Kept up to his work from there, he was always holding Juddmonte's similarly promising The Nile, who appeared unsuited to the undulations of this track. "We'll discuss it with Sheikh Hamdan Al Maktoum and Angus Gold, but the G3 Jersey S. at Royal Ascot looks the next logical step," Varian told PA Sport. Click for the Racing Post chart.
