TDN MAGAZINE, As the Science Gets Better, Catching the Cheats Becomes Easier: Part V of A Painful Truth: No matter the sport, cheaters have always stayed one step ahead of those trying to catch them by doping with as-yet undetectable products. But what if authorities didn't need to determine what the products were, only what the specimin should look like if unaltered by any drug? Meet the biological passport, and Travis Tygart, the man who has successfully routed out two of sports' most defiant cheats, Lance Armstrong and Marion Jones, neither of whom had ever tested positive. 3rd at BELAlw ($75K)  [8.5 f]Winner: Forward March, c, 3 by Distorted Humor
3rd-BEL, $75,460, Alw, Opt. Clm. ($35,000), NW1X, 3yo/up, 1 1/16m (off turf), 1:43 4/5, sy.
FORWARD MARCH (c, 3, Distorted Humor--Angel's Nest, by Storm Cat), produced by an unraced daughter of the legendary Miesque (Nureyev), was the highest-priced yearling for his sire in 2010 when selling for $2.05 million at KEESEP. The chestnut aired in his unveiling at Monmouth last September, but didn't face the starter again until Feb. 26, when he faded to finish sixth at Gulfstream. He came back to run third behind GI Belmont S. starters Unstoppable U (Exchange Rate) and Guyana Star Dweej (Eddington) in Belmont optional claimer Apr. 27, and filled the same spot in a similar contest May 19. His task here was made easier when the main contenders scratched due to the race being washed off the turf, and the 2-1 second choice went up to set the pace. He edged away in the lane and splashed home a 1 3/4-length winner over Hangover Kid (Lemon Drop Kid). Lifetime Record: 5-2-0-2, $89,025. Click for the brisnet.com chart.
