TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

9th at CDXAlw ($55K)  [1 1/16m (T)]Winner: Film Shot, c, 3 by Distorted Humor

FILM SHOT (c, 3, Distorted Humor--Film Maker {GISW, $2,203,730}, by Dynaformer) showed little when sprinting at Aqueduct first out in November. Despite being the son of an accomplished turf mare, he was let go at 18-1 when testing the sod at Gulfstream Feb. 1, and he left the bettors kicking themselves when he donned cap and gown. The homebred faded to ninth after setting solid fractions back in Florida in an optional claimer Feb. 25, but bounced back a bit to be second last time at Keeneland Apr. 13 behind local GSP runner Coalport (Kitten's Joy). Made the 3-2 favorite this time, Film Shot assumed the pole position from the outset and was never seriously threatened, keeping a late run from Chalice (Pulpit) at bay to score handily by 2 1/2 lengths. Lifetime Record: 5-2-1-0, $68,848. Click for the brisnet.com chart or Video, sponsored by Taylor Made Sales.
