DISCREET DANCER (c, 4, Discreet Cat--West Side Dancer, by Gone West), who opened his career with a 9 3/4-length victory over state-bred foes, was tabbed a "TDN Rising Star" when setting a track record with a 5 1/2-length romp in an allowance victory at this track last January. The Robsham homebred had not been seen since running third behind Union Rags (Dixie Union) in last year’s GII Fountain of Youth S. Sent off the 3-5 favorite, Discreet Dancer chased the pace through fractions of :22.32 and :44.61. He ranged up four wide on the turn and eyeballed Candyman E (Candy Ride {Arg}) stride for stride before eking out a neck victory. The winner is a half-brother to Travelin Man (Trippi, GSW, $253,084).
