TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

2yo FDistorted Humor--Dream of Summer$310,000
Breeder: James C Weigel & WinStar Farm LLC (KY)
    Buyer: Steven Young
    Consignor: Kings Equine

A Distorted Humor half-sister to recent GI Preakness S. third Creative Cause (Giant's Causeway) brought a bid of $310,000 from bloodstock agent Steve Young at Tuesday's second session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Two-Year-Olds in Training Sale. She became the auction's second-highest-priced filly--behind the $450,000 Teuflesberg full-sister to Trinniberg who sold earlier in the day--and the third-highest-priced horse overall. Debbie Easter was the immediate underbidder.

Kings Equine, who sold the current sale-topping $575,000 Scat Daddy--Magical Mist on Monday, offered the Distorted Humor filly as hip 417. Kings Equine's Raul Reyes purchased the filly for $75,000 last year at Keeneland September. That was after Creative Cause's win in the GII Best Pal S. but before his first Grade I tally in the GI Norfolk S. Both horses were produced by the 13-year-old GISW Dream of Summer (Siberian Summer).
