Unhurried off the blocks, Da Mi Basia Mille stumbled a few strides in, but recovered nicely to settle toward the back of the pack as Emotional Kitten (Kitten's Joy) led through an opening quarter in :22.55. Inching closer to the front following a half in :46.99, the Maryland-bred was brought out five wide by Jose Lezcano turning for home and wore down the tiring leader and drew clear to graduate by 1 1/4 lengths over the fast-closing favorite Citizen Emma (Proud Citizen).
