PAYNTER (c, 3, Awesome Again--Tizso, by Cee's Tizzy) was tabbed a J "TDN Rising Star" J for his 4 1/4-length debut success at Santa Anita in February, and finished fourth on the stretch-out behind I'll Have Another (Flower Alley) in the Apr. 7 GI Santa Anita Derby. He was second in the GIII Derby Trial S. under the lights at Churchill three weeks ago, and was made a 1-9 shot on the drop down in class. Sharing pacesetting duties with second choice Brimstone Island (Tiznow) from the two path through splits of :24.21, :48.31 and 1:12.29, the $325,000 KEESEP yearling blew that rival away in the final furlong and put about eight lengths on him at the line. The winner is a half to Tizakitty (Distinctive Cat), SW, $158,644; and Tiz West (Gone West), GSW, $263,761, and was produced by a full-sister to dual GI Breeders' Cup Classic hero Tiznow.
