TDN MAGAZINE, The International Difference: Part III of A Painful Truth: "Welfare in Europe means to train the horse without any chemicals and make him race if he can face the challenge,” says France Galop's Dr. Roland Devolz. “In your country, welfare means to be allowed to use as many drugs as possible to ensure the horse will support training and race." Whose version is right? Part 3 of A Painful Truth examines North America's singular stance on medication. Download part three by clicking here.

16.45 at WLVMdn  [7f 32yds (AW)]Winner: Purr Along (GB), f, 2 by Mount Nelson (GB)
Wolverhampton, 16.45, Mdn, £3,500, 2yo, 7f 32yds (AWT), 1:29.13, stn.
+PURR ALONG (GB) (f, 2, Mount Nelson {GB}--Purring, by Mountain Cat), a half-sister to Lady Francesca (GB) (Montjeu {Ire}), SP-Eng & Fr, $116,978, and a TATOCT 11,500gns yearling, broke well from the 12 box to stalk the leaders in third going into an early bend. Easing to the front hard on the steel rounding the home turn, the 16-1 chance was steered clear with a waving whip in the closing stages to easily best Jumeirah Moon (GB) (Kheleyf) by five lengths. "She couldn't win from that draw unless she was good," opined trainer William Muir. "I said to [jockey] Martin [Dwyer] beforehand that the [outside] draw was impossible, but he'd probably overcome it, as she is pretty smart. She's natural, she could win over six [furlongs], but she's got a lot of stout in her pedigree. I've always liked her and she's just come to hand very quickly." Dwyer added, "She had been working nicely, and we were confident she would run well. We thought the draw would be difficult, but she proved otherwise and did it well. She broke well, got in a good position and made it easy for me." Purr Along is the second winner for her freshman sire (by Rock of Gibraltar {Ire}). Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, £2,264.
