Into Mischief Filly Rolls Home For First Stakes Score

Mia Mischief | Coady

Pounded into 3-5 favoritism, 'TDN Rising Star' Mia Mischief displayed a new dimension in Saturday's Purple Martin S., taking a sit off the pace before rolling home late for a first black-type success.

Exiting a tough loss at the hands of then undefeated Amy's Challenge (Artie Schiller) in the Jan. 20 Dixie Belle S., the bay, who had led at the first three calls in each of her five career trips to the post, was beaten for speed this time and settled in fourth spot early on before improving one position entering the turn. Asked to go after the dueling pacesetters three wide nearing the stretch, she rolled to the lead with a little less than a quarter-mile to race and and turned on the afterburners to score by a widening margin in fast time.

Accorded Rising Star status following a towering 16 1/4-length graduating over a sloppy Keeneland strip last October, Mia Mischief was rolled as the 3-10 chalk in the Spendthrift Juvenile Fillies S. at Churchill Oct. 29 before atoning for that effort with a smooth allowance victory beneath the Twin Spires Nov. 25.

A $135,000 Keeneland September yearling turned $300,000 Fasig-Tipton Florida juvenile, Mia Mischief becomes the 33rd stakes winner for her successful sire and is one of four winners from five to race for her dam, a half-sister to GSW Sing Baby Sing (Unbridled's Song), SW & GISP Value Plus (Unbridled's Song), MSW & GSP Majorbigtimesheet (Carson City) and GSW Roll Hennessy Roll (Hennessy). Greer Lynn is the dam of a yearling filly by Unbridled's Song's young stallion son Cross Traffic and was most recently bred back to Into Mischief.
