SONG OF MINE (Ghostzapper&log=">Ghostzapper), the half-sister to two-time champion and nine-time Grade I winner Songbird (Medaglia d'Oro) gets her career underway over this track's short-stretch mile. The daughter of Grade II-winning sophomore Ivanavinalot (West Acre) was purchased by Tom Haughey's PTK LLC for $800K at the 2016 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga sale less than two weeks before Songbird won the GI Alabama S. at the Spa and is under the care of former jockey Dane Kobiskie. PTK and Kobiskie were represented by their first Oaklawn winner in the form of Colour Guard Jan. 25. Song of Mine recorded a half-dozen breezes at Payson Park, including three consecutive bullet drills, and has since worked three times over the Oaklawn strip. In her latest move Jan. 22, she covered a half-mile from the gate in :48 flat.” We give all our horses as much time as they need before they run, and Song of Mine is simply a big filly,” Kaitlin Haughey told the Oaklawn press office in an email. “We wanted to give her as much time as she needed to grow, mature and fill out. So in a sense she's right on schedule, but in actuality there never was a schedule. We just listen to our horses and to Dane and let them tell us when the time is right.” TJCIS PPs
