Impressive First Winner for Tapizar

DRAFT BEER (c, 2, Tapizar–Henny Blues, by Hennessy) hit the gate at the start of his debut here May 12 and rushed up late to try and challenge a runaway winner, but was forced to settle for second. Away in good order this time around, the 4-1 shot rushed up to seize control, zipping along through an opening quarter in :21.49 while several lengths clear of the next rival. Extending further clear in the stretch, the chestnut hit the line 4 1/4 lengths to the good of 3-5 chalk Animal Quiet (Iqbaal). Draft Beer is the first winner for his freshman sire Tapizar (Tapit), who won the 2012 GI Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile. Draft Beer is the first foal out of Henny Blues, a half-sister to MGSW Blues Street (Street Cry {Ire}).
