SHAR RAN (f, 3, Munnings">Munnings–Mean Imogene {GSP}, by Silver Deputy), let go at generous odds of 8-1, stalked the pace of second choice Miss Kentucky (Blame), grabbed that one a furlong from the wire and went on to a 2 1/4-length graduation Saturday night at Churchill Downs. A sound, but distant third to next-out winner My Miss Tapit (Tapit) in a Mar. 10 Gulfstream maiden, the Illinois-bred filly jumped alertly and did the chasing from second as Miss Kentucky showed ample early foot. The front-runner was going well enough as the eighth pole loomed, but Shar Ran was doing the better work from there and came home a clear-cut winner. Shar Ran, a half-sister to 'TDN Rising Star' Mean Season (Henny Hughes), hails from the extended female family of GISW Hollywood Story (Wild Rush). She is also a half-sister to a filly foal by Stay Thirsty. Lifetime Record: 2-1-0-1, $29,140. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
