Kaleem Shah's Iliad (Ghostzapper), most recently a distant second to 'TDN Rising Star' Mastery (Candy Ride {Arg}) in the GII San Felipe S. at Santa Anita Mar. 11, drilled five-eighths of a mile in 1:01.40 over the main track Friday morning as he prepares for his next start in the GI Santa Anita Derby Apr. 8. Also working for the Santa Anita Derby was stablemate Term of Art (Tiznow), who covered the same distance in 1:01.80

“Both horses went real well,” commented trainer Doug O'Neill, who watched the drills with Shah. “Iliad finished up great and both Kaleem and I thought he showed great energy.”

Iliad followed a second-out graduation at Los Alamitos with a smooth victory in the GII San Vicente S. going seven panels Feb. 12. He sat right up on the decent pace in the San Felipe S. and looked dangerous for a stride or two turning for home, but Mastery had something left and Iliad was forced to settle for second.
