+SONOMA CRUSH (c, 3, High Cotton–Alotofappeal, by Trippi), pounded into even-money favoritism to open his account at first asking Saturday, ran to the money, stamping himself as one to watch over the coming months. Drawn widest for this debut, the Florida-bred was first away, but was outsprinted thereafter by market rival Twizz (Twiriling Candy) and was allowed to take a sit off that one's flank as they sped through a fast opening quarter of :22.03. Tracking Twizz's every move around the turn, Sonoma Crush forged to the lead a furlong from the wire and stayed on willingly to score by 1 1/4 lengths as Seeking the Soul (Perfect Soul {Ire}) got home nicely from the rear. Twizz held for third. Catalogued for, but withdrawn from last year's OBS April Sale, Sonoma Crush breezed a quarter-mile in :20 4/5 ahead of that auction house's June Sale and was hammered down to the Stonestreet/Bolton team for $220,000, the top price for a colt and second-highest result overall for a 2-year-old in training by his sire in 2015. Stablemate Taprize (Tapit), a full-brother to champion Untapable and half to GISW Paddy O'Prado (El Prado {Ire}), was scratched. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $24,000.
