Falmouth winner Alice Springs's full-sister is catalogued | Racing Post

The catalogue has been released for Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale, which takes place at Park Paddocks in Newmarket Oct. 4 to 6 and features the siblings to 50 Group 1 and Classic winners.

Nineteen of the current top 20 active sires standing in Britain and Ireland are represented, with half-brothers Galileo (Ire) and Sea The Stars (Ire) having 45 catalogued between them. The 21 yearlings set to sell by seven-time champion sire Galileo are sure to be a top draw, and they include the full- or half-siblings to this year's G1 Falmouth S. winner Alice Springs (Ire) (lot 441); G1 King George VI and Queen Elizabeth S. winner Highland Reel (Ire) (lot 109); G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Just The Judge (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}) (lot 47); and Group 1-winning juvenile Reckless Abandon (GB) (Exchange Rate) (lot 295).

Dubawi (Ire), whose filly out of Loveisallyouneed (Ire) topped last year's sale with a bid of 2.1-million guineas, has 21 catalogued, his highest at this sale since 2012. Those include siblings to Group 1 winners Mount Nelson (GB) (Rock Of Gibraltar {Ire}) (lot 116); Izzi Top (GB) (Pivotal {GB}) (lot 427); and Laughing (Ire) (Dansili {GB}) (lot 540), as well as the progeny of Group 1-winning mares including Fallen For You (GB) (Dansili {GB}) (lot 39) and Icon Project (Empire Maker) (lot 113).

Other siblings to Group 1 winners catalogued include a Champs Elysees (GB) half-brother to this year's G1 2000 Guineas and G1 St James's Palace S. winner Galileo Gold (GB) (Paco Boy {Ire}) (lot 71); a Declaration of War half-brother to G1 Gold Cup victor Order Of St George (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) (lot 460) as well as a half-brother to G1 St Leger winner Simple Verse (Ire) (Duke of Marmalade {Ire}) by the same first-season sire (lot 89). Dancing Rain (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) and Immortal Verse (Ire) (Pivotal {GB}), who both made such a scene at the Tattersalls December sale in 2013 when selling for 4-million guineas-plus, each have a sibling catalogued: Dancing Rain's brother is an Invincible Spirit (Ire) colt (lot 272), and Immortal Verse's is a full-brother to her (lot 320). Lillie Langtry (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), the dam of this year's standout 3-year-old filly Minding (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}), has a half-brother by Sea The Stars (Ire) catalogued (lot 104), as does another standout at stud, Zoffany (Ire): his Frankel (GB) half-brother (lot 385) is one of 17 catalogued from the second crop of his exciting young sire. G1 Irish Derby winner Jack Hobbs (GB) (Halling) has a half-sister by Sepoy (Aus) set to sell (lot 356); and Classic winner Legatissimo (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}) has a half-sister by Shamardal (lot 422) catalogued.

Other Group 1 or Classic-winning mares with progeny catalogued include Attraction (GB) (Efisio {GB}) (a Frankel colt, lot 475); Casual Look (Red Ransom) (lot 523, another colt by Frankel); and Majestic Roi (Street Cry {Ire}) (a colt by Dansili, lot 173). Dansili is also represented by a half-brother to last year's sale topper (lot 166).

There are 12 first-season sires represented by a total of 101 yearlings, including 25 yearlings apiece for Classic winners Camelot (GB) and Dawn Approach (Ire). Another Classic winner, Intello (Ger), has 15 catalogued, and G1 Juddmonte International victor Declaration Of War has 13 slated to sell.

Overseas-based sires are also well represented, and those include from the U.S. Arch, Bernardini, Curlin, Giant's Causeway, Kitten's Joy, Scat Daddy, Tapit and War Front, and from France and Germany Dalakhani (Ire), Kendargent (Fr), Makfi (GB), Maxios (GB) and Redoute's Choice (Aus).

All yearlings catalogued are eligible for the £25,000 Tattersalls October Book 1 Bonus.

“The catalogue for Book 1 of the October Yearling Sale is exceptional, even by its usual lofty standards,” said Tattersalls Chairman Edmond Mahony. “Whilst it remains the leading source of European Classic winners, the introduction of the £25,000 Tattersalls October 'Book 1 Bonus' has added an extra dimension and captured the imagination of owners and trainers. The scheme has already seen 15 winners, several of which have covered their purchase price by winning the bonus whilst others have won enough prize money to cover at least a year of training fees. Europe's premier yearling sale has all the ingredients to attract buyers at every level of the market and we look forward to welcoming the usual global audience to Book 1 of the Tattersalls October Yearling Sale.”
