Gormley Works for Sham

Gormley | Benoit

Jerry and Ann Moss's Gormley (Malibu Moon), winner of the Oct. 1 GI FrontRunner S., worked five furlongs in 1:00.60 (3/9) Monday at Santa Anita in preparation for his sophomore debut in Saturday's GIII Sham S. The track was rated 'good.'

“I thought he went very well,” trainer John Shirreffs said of the work. “He worked in company all the way around with [6-year-old allowance winner] Cool Samurai (First Samurai). He went very nice.”

Gormley, a first-out winner at Del Mar in September, won the FrontRunner in his second career start and will be looking to rebound from a seventh-place effort in the Nov. 5 GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile.

In addition to Gormley, Sham probables include American Anthem (Bodemeister), Blabimir (Tapizar), Colonel Samsen (Colonel John) and Term of Art (Tiznow).
