Gormley Works for Juvenile

GI FrontRunner S. winner Gormley (Malibu Moon), pointing towards the GI Breeders' Cup Juvenile, worked six furlongs in company in 1:15 flat Sunday at Santa Anita. Jockey Chantal Sutherland was in the irons for trainer John Shirreffs.

“Gormley went very well,” Shirreffs said. “We wanted to make sure he was comfortable next to the other horse. We put him in a different position to see how he handled it. We weren't looking for a fast time, just more of a comfortable, non-stressful work.”

Also working at Santa Anita Sunday was GI King's Bishop S. winner Drefong (Gio Ponti). Aiming for the GI Breeders' Cup Sprint, the 3-year-old went six furlongs in a bullet 1:12.20 from the gate. Martin Garcia was aboard for trainer Bob Baffert. “He went good and he needed it,” Baffert said. “It was a good work for him.”
