Heavily backed down to 1-2 after four scratches, Bullet Gone Astray became the first stakes winner for his freshman sire (by Dixie Union) with a convincing tally. Rating kindly just behind the pacesetters through splits of :22.75 and :46.75, he tipped wide and dragged his way to the front entering the lane, pouring it on from there to defeat Save the Drama (Big Drama) by open lengths. Bullet Gone Astray rallied from off the pace to don cap and gown first up in the Gulfstream slop June 28. Permanent Makeup produced a full-brother to Bullet Gone Astray in 2014.
