Goffs UK August Concludes

Velvet Maker | Goffs UK

The single-day Goffs UK August Sale, which offered National Hunt stores and horses-in-training, saw 148 (64%) lots of 231 offered sell Tuesday. The gross was £1,219,150, while the average of £8,238 marked a 27% decrease. The median followed suite at £5,000, a drop of 17%. Topping the sale at £36,000 was Velvet Maker (Fr) (Policy Maker {Ire}) (lot 148), who was purchased by David Christie. Consigned by his owner Barry Connell, Velvet Maker is MG1SP.

“Last year this sale made a huge return to the sale calendar following a two-year absence and the Potensis Dispersal certainly provided a number of highlights and it was always going to be hard to match those results without a dispersal of that stature,” said Goffs UK Managing Director Tony Williams. “However, this sale provides a market for all levels and we enjoyed a strong trade for those that appealed most, but it has to be said, it was hard going for the remainder. We would like to thank all our vendors and buyers today.”
