Classic Siblings to Sell at Orby

Jet Setting | Racing Post

Goffs, currently celebrating its 150th anniversary, has released the catalogue for its flagship yearling auction, the Orby Sale, which among its 472 lots features full-siblings to the Irish 1,000 Guineas-winning fillies Nightime (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) and Jet Setting (Ire) (Fast Company {Ire}).

The Castlebridge Consignment will offer both fillies, with Nightime's sister – one of ten Galileo yearlings in the sale – consigned on the second day of the sale as lot 425, while Jet Setting's sister is under the hammer 24 hours earlier as lot 153.

Among a host of other well-related individuals to be catalogued for the two-day auction on Sept. 27 and 28 is Camas Park Stud's first-crop son of the War Front stallion Declaration Of War who is a half-brother to G1 Irish Derby winner Frozen Fire (Ger) (Montjeu {Ire}) (lot 49), while a full-sister to the dual Group 1 winner Rizeena (Ire) (Iffraaj {GB}) is one of the jewels of the Roundhill Stud draft (lot 258).

The G1 Dubai Fillies' Mile winner Together Forever (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) was one of the stars of the 2013 Orby Sale when selling for €680,000 and her full-sister, who is also a half-sister to fellow Group 1 winner Lord Shanakill (Speightstown), will be presented in the Ballylinch Stud draft as lot 74.

Two colts and a filly by the mighty Frankel (GB) have been catalogued, including a half-brother to the Niarchos family's Group 1-winning duo of Bago (Fr) and Maxios (GB) (Monsun {Ger}) (lot 168), as well as a daughter of the dual Oaks winner Ramruma (Diesis), selling from Baroda & Colbinstown Studs as lot 226.

Yearlings by Shamardal are routinely popular and likely to be of particular interest is a duo of colts from the Tinnakill House consignment, with lot 66 being a half-brother to The Gurkha's (Ire) dam Chintz (Ire) (Danehill Dancer {Ire}), while lot 94 is a half-sister to recent G3 Ballyroan S. winner and Irish Derby third Stellar Mass (Ire) (Sea The Stars {Ire}). Another Shamardal yearling of great appeal is Mountarmstrong Stud's daughter of champion racemare Alexander Goldrun (Ire) (Gold Away {Ire}), who is listed as lot 358.

Only one Dubawi (Ire) yearling appears in the catalogue and it could well be a case of saving the best until last, as he is the final yearling to be offered as part of an 18-strong Wildenstein Stables dispersal, with a selection of horses in training from the Wildenstein family set to follow him into the ring. Already named Being There (Fr), the February-born colt (lot 472) is the first foal of the G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine Beauty Parlour (GB) (Deep Impact {JPN}), while also among the dispersal, which is being handled by the Castlebridge Consignment, is Beauty Parlour's half-sister by Dansili (GB) (lot 471).

Commenting on the Orby catalogue, Goffs' Chief Executive Henry Beeby said, “This is a milestone year for Goffs as we celebrate 150 years since Robert J Goff was appointed as official auctioneer to the Irish Turf Club, and I am delighted to report that the quality of yearlings buyers can expect from the 2016 Orby Sale more than befits such a significant anniversary.

“The level of demand for Orby places surpassed any previous year, which is testament to the strength of the sale in recent times. Goffs' selection team spent the summer visiting leading breeders and walking the stud farms of Ireland, as well as the UK and US, to hand-pick some of the best-bred and best-looking yearlings anywhere this year. Buyers can be assured of more world-class yearlings from a sale that has produced a steady supply of Classic winners since its first Derby winner in 1870.”

He continued, “In addition, we are proud to catalogue yearlings from The Wildenstein Stables Ltd Dispersal in the Orby, which has been another wonderful endorsement of the quality of this sale and of the Goffs service.”

The Orby Sale will be followed by the Sportsman's Sale, which is split into two parts and is scheduled to run on Sept. 29 and 30. The catalogue for the Sportsman's Sale will be online from Friday, Aug. 12, while the Orby Sale catalogue can be viewed here.
