BLIND AMBITION (c, 3, Tapit–Starfish Bay {MSW, $241,831}, by Elusive Quality) made light work of a group of overmatched Gulfstream maidens Saturday afternoon, leading virtually every step of the way to score by 5 3/4 lengths. Pounded down to 1-5 at the off after siting on the board at 1-9 for much of the wagering, the $400,000 EASMAY juvenile had to be scrubbed upon early by Javier Castellano, but made the lead after a furlong. The chalk went further clear without being asked through the middle stages, turned for home with the better part of 10 lengths to spare and cruised under the line virtually untouched. Mr Atila (Ghostzapper) was best of the rest, 3 3/4 lengths ahead of the remainder. Blind Ambition, a debut fourth over this strip Jan. 28 and a pacesetting third here when last seen Mar. 4, is the third foal to race from the Gainesway's speedy turf sprinter Starfish Bay, a four-time black-type winner who established course records at both Monmouth Park (5f in :54.79) and at Gulfstream (5f in :53.79) in 2010. Second dam Touch Love (Not For Love) won the GII Schuylerville S. in 2001 and is the dam of GSP Tekton (Bernardini), as well as the stakes-placed turf sprinter Love Train (Tapit). The dam of a 2-year-old colt by Scat Daddy, Starfish Bay produced a filly by Street Sense in 2016 and was most recently bred to Gainesway's repatriated Empire Maker. Lifetime Record: 3-1-0-1, $27,320. Click for the Equibase.com chart or VIDEO, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
