+FRANKUUS (IRE) (c, 2, Frankel (GB)">Frankel {GB}— Dookus {Ire}, by Linamix {Fr}), sent off the 4-1 second favourite, was settled in fourth early before being cajoled to the front with two furlongs remaining. Lugging down towards the rail and into Arc Royal (GB) (Arcano {Ire}) as a result, the €130,000 GOFORB yearling asserted when straightened up by Joe Fanning to score by 1 3/4 lengths and become the fourth winner from five runners for his exalted first-season sire. The winner is a half-brother to US Law (Ire) (Lawman {Fr}), GSW & G1SP-Fr, $292,937. “There is clearly a buzz around Frankel, so we're over the moon,” trainer Mark Johnston's son and assistant Charlie commented. “Joe said when he hit the front he had a look about and he hasn't had to pick his stick up. There's a chance he could take a huge step forward from this, as he was getting a bit warm when I was saddling him and he was keen going down. There is no question he will stay a mile.” As is to be expected of a Frankel, the immediate pedigree has a serious look to it, with the second dam being the G1 Phoenix S.-winning highweight Pharaoh's Delight (Fairy King), who was also runner-up in the G1 Moyglare Stud S. and third in the G1 Haydock Sprint Cup, G1 Nunthorpe S. and G1 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp. Her daughter Pharmacist (Ire) (Machiavellian) bred the GI Breeders' Cup Turf and GI Man o' War S. hero and sire Red Rocks (Ire), as well as the MGSP Medicinal (Ire) (Linamix {Fr}) and the Czech champion Blue Coral (Ire) (Grand Lodge). Dookus has an unnamed yearling filly by Dream Ahead, who was officially rated the equal of Frankel as a juvenile in the World Thoroughbred Rankings. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $5,723.
