Jim Bolger has been patient with Goldrush, who is out of one of the best mares he trained in Alexander Goldrun, and that is starting to pay dividends now that she has gone through her first two starts unbeaten and has a black-type success to her name. Off the mark by three lengths over a mile at Navan Sept. 2, the bay looked in trouble temporarily in early straight but built a head of steam to power to the front 150 yards out and on to a convincing score. Alexander Goldrun captured the G1 Pretty Polly S. on two occasions as well as the G1 Nassau S., G1 Prix de l’Opera and G1 Hong Kong Cup during the early part of the renaissance of the European fillies and mares halfway through the last decade. She is a half-sister to the sire Medecis (GB), winner of the G3 Prix de la Jonchere and runner-up in the G1 Poule
d’Essai des Poulains and G1 Prix de la Foret. Also from the family of the dual G1 Ascot Gold Cup hero Royal Rebel (GB) (Robellino) and group 1 winners Getaway (Ger) (Monsun {Ger}), Guiliani (Ire) (Tertullian) and Guignol (Ger) (Cape Cross {Ire}), Alexander Goldrun’s 2-year-old daughter of Shamardal named Une Alliance (Ire) sold at Goffs Orby last year for €600,000 and she also has a colt foal by Muhaarar (GB).
