A pair of contenders for next Saturday's GII Fountain of Youth S. breezed bullets at Gulfstream Friday morning.

Three Rules (Gone Astray), a four-time restricted stakes winner in Hallandale who was most recently a close second at odds-on in the GII Swale S. Feb. 4, covered five panels in snappy :58.91 (1/15) under leading rider Luis Saez, who will replace regular pilot Cornelio Velasquez in the Fountain of Youth.

“It was a real good work; excellent. I couldn't have wanted anything better,” trainer Jose Pinchin said. “He's doing good. He came out of the last race beautiful and he'll run again next week, God willing.”

Beasley (Shackleford), a $340,000 Fasig-Tipton Saratoga yearling who was most recently a game second to 'TDN Rising Star' Battalion Runner (Unbridled's Song) in a salty track-and-trip allowance Feb. 3, was the fastest half-mile worker on the Gulfstream main track Friday, stopping the clock in :48.11 (1/38).

“I was very pleased with it,” offered conditioner Mark Hennig. “He worked great and galloped out nice and strong afterward, so we're very happy. He can be [a fast work horse], especially if you put him in company. He had a little target to run at today.”
