First Winner for Frankel in South Africa

Miss Frankel | Gold Circle

By

On a day that saw Cracksman (GB) (Frankel {GB}) salute in the G2 Great Voltigeur S. on the Knavesmire, Miss Frankel (SAf) (Frankel {GB}) gave her sire his first winner in South Africa at Scottsville, reported Sporting Post. The Dennis Drier charge made all the running in the 1000m maiden plate (video), drifting toward the middle of the course late, but appeared to never shift out of first gear under Anton Marcus. Bred and raced by Avontuur Thoroughbred Farm, Miss Frankel is out of South African champion sprinter and four-time Grade 1 heroine Val de Ra (SAf) (Var), who was also trained by Drier. She was seventh in a Kenilworth maiden plate as a juvenile in January.

Remarked Avontuur General Manager Pippa Mickleburgh to Sporting Post, “We are very proud of this top-class family.”
