First French Black-Type Winner For Frankel In the Prix d'Aumale

Toulifaut | ScoopDyga

Toulifaut was the first winner in France for her sire and became his first black-type winner here as she extended her unbeaten sequence with a degree of comfort for the ebullient Jean-Claude Rouget stable. Successful over seven furlongs at Clairefontaine July 9 and over 7 1/2 furlongs at Deauville Aug. 14, the bay was settled with just Holy Makfi (GB) (Makfi {GB}) behind early as that rival's rider struggled with a slipped saddle. Switched off the rail approaching the quarter pole, Toulifaut gained the lead at the furlong pole and readily asserted from Normandel and the unlucky Asidious Alexander who had been held up on the fence at a crucial point. “Every time she runs, she shows more and does better and today she looked like the further she goes, the better she'll be which is very encouraging for next season,” Rouget said. “She was trained in Deauville after her conditions win in August and we will return there now. All being well, she'll run in the [G1 Prix] Marcel Boussac [at Chantilly Oct. 2].”

Cassydora was one of several classy performers to race for Hesmonds Stud, winning the Listed Lingfield Oaks Trial and finishing runner-up in the G1 Nassau S. before taking the GIII Hillsborough S. during her spell Stateside. Her son Ernest Hemingway stayed well enough to be a dual winner of the G3 Curragh Cup for Ballydoyle and the general tendency of her family leans towards middle distances. The second dam Claxon was the winner of the G2 Premio Lydia Tesio, while Bulaxie finished second in that having captured the G3 Fred Darling S. and is herself a half-sister to the G3 Prix de la Nonette-winning Dust Dancer (GB) (Suave Dancer). The latter is the dam of the GII Lake Placid H. scorer Spotlight (GB) (Dr Fong), who is connected to the G1 Phoenix S.-winning sire Zoffany (Ire). Cassydora has a yearling full-sister to the winner and a filly foal by Galileo (Ire) to come.
