Shamrock Rose, entered in the $100k Ontario Debutante S. for her career bow, overcame a slow start and ran away impressively in the stretch to graduate in style. Showing a steady, if unspectacular local worktab, the $120,000 OBS April pickup was away last of the quintet before rushing up to track odds-on stablemate and 'TDN Rising Star' Sly Roxy (Speightstown) from third at the rail through a :23.15 quarter. Appearing to be flattening on the turn, Shamrock Rose came alive when tipped into the four path straightening into the lane, swept to the front inside the sixteenth pole and edged clear to a convincing success. Glamanation (Point of Entry) was second-best, while Sly Roxy faded to fourth.

“She broke a little slow, but that was a good thing for her,” said winning rider Eurico Rosa da Silva. “I had an opportunity to take her outside. She sat off the speed. I knew I had a lot of horse underneath me. When I asked her, she responded very well.”

The winner's unraced dam is a half to MGSW Slew the Red (Red Ransom), while third dam Great Lady Sharon is a half to Hall of Famer Lady's Secret (Secretariat). Slew's Quality is responsible for a yearling colt by Bandox and a weanling colt by Stay Thirsty. She was bred to Golden Lad this term.
