Finley'sluckycharm One to Beat in TCA

Finley'sluckycharm | Sarah Andrew

The speedy Finley'sluckycharm (Twirling Candy) will look to take the field gate-to-wire in search of her third graded stakes win of the year in the GII Thoroughbred Club of America S. at Keeneland Saturday, a “Win & You're In” event for the GI Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint.

Minus a loss to Paulassilverlining (Ghostzapper) by a mere neck last out in the GII Honorable Miss H. July 26 at Saratoga, the $77,000 Keeneland September purchase would be undefeated in 2017. It was her only loss at this six-furlong distance in her six career attempts. Last term's GI La Brea S. runner-up is looking to add her first Grade II to her resume along with wins in the 2017 GIII Chicago H. and GIII Winning Colors S., both at Churchill Downs. Her only off-the-board finish in 11-career starts came in her lone attempt around two turns in last year's GII Rachael Alexandra S. at Fair Grounds.

The main threats to the 3-5 morning-line favorite will break to her inside. Vertical Oak (Giant Oak) is fresh off a runaway score in the GII Prioress Sept. 3 at Saratoga. She added that win to the GIII Miss Preakness S. earlier in the year.

Claiborne Farm's 'TDN Rising Star' Bendable (Horse Greeley), third in the GIII Rancho Bernardo H. at Del Mar last out Aug. 3, will look to settle just off the early pace and make one good run from her rail draw. That's how she notched her first graded stakes win of her career in the GIII Desert Stormer S. in her first start of the year off a 7 1/2-month layoff. She was also a close third in last year's TCA behind MGSWs Stonetastic (Mizzen Mast) and Irish Jasper (First Defence).
