Champion Finest City (City Zip–Be Envied, by Lemon Drop Kid) will be offered at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale to be held Nov. 6 in Lexington, K.Y. The chestnut will be consigned by trainer Ian Kruljac on behalf of owner Seltzer Thoroughbreds.

Winner of the GII Great Lady M S. and beaten just head on turf in the GII John C. Mabee S. last term, she earned the Eclipse Award for top female sprinter after an 8-1 upset in the GI Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint. She has hit the board in all five of her starts this term, including a win in the GII Santa Monica S., and was most recently third when attempting a title defense in the Great Lady M July 8. Her record currently stands at 19-5-6-4 with earnings of $1,256,394.

“Finest City has been a dream to care for,” said Kruljac. “Her brilliance, durability, versatility and personality have given us a lifetime of memories. She has battled the best mares of her generation on any surface and at any distance.”

Finest City will make her final career start in this year's Breeders' Cup F/M Sprint in Del Mar before heading to the sale.

“We are blessed to have one more chapter to write in this year's Breeders Cup Filly and Mare Sprint before she goes to auction and begins a well deserved career as a broodmare, and passes on her brilliance for years to come,” said Kruljac.

When asked by the TDN what Finest City has to offer as a broodmare prospect, Kruljac said, “Her speed and stamina would be a good match for any top sire. She's a 5-year-old mare, she's accomplished and it's what's best for her. She deserves it.”

Fasig-Tipton President Boyd Browning added, “Finest City is a truly special offering –an Eclipse Champion and Breeders' Cup Champion with the looks and pedigree to match. We're honored that her connections have chosen our November Sale for such an exceptional racemare.”
