+DRAFTED (c, 2, Field Commission–Keep the Profit, by Darn That Alarm) was scooped up for $35,000 at OBS March and went straight to work with a series of drills at Eoin Harty's winter base at Tampa Bay Downs. Shipped to the Bluegrass to finalize his preparations for this career debut, the gray signaled his readiness with a swift four-panel drill from the gate in :47.40 here Apr. 23. Sent postward with a 4-1 chance in this field drastically reduced by scratches, the Florida-bred broke alertly and chased odds-on favorite Spellker (City Zip) as that rival opened up a clear lead. Sent up with a quick move to seize control through a quarter-mile in :22.26, Drafted maintained his advantage down the stretch and crossed the wire 2 3/4 lengths ahead of the favorite, setting a new track record in the process. The winner, who previously RNA'd for $19,000 as an OBS August yearling, has a yearling full-brother. Lifetime Record: 1-1-0-0, $26,650.
