Euro Charline Set For Falmouth Bid

Marco Botti | Racing Post

Team Valor International's Euro Charline (GB) (Myboycharlie {Ire}) will look to go one better than her second-place finish in last year's G1 Falmouth S. in this year's Tattersalls-sponsored renewal of that contest July 8.

The 5-year-old Euro Charline scored an all-important Grade I victory in the 2014 GI Beverly D. S., but seeks her first win since. Trained by Marco Botti, Euro Charline has been runner-up in her last three outings: Meydan's G2 Balanchine S. and G1 Dubai Turf and Newbury's G1 Lockinge S. May 14. Botti noted the Falmouth has been a long-term target.

“The Tattersalls 250th Year Falmouth S. has been the plan for Euro Charline for a while and I am very keen to run her as long as the ground is not too soft,” he said. “The forecast for next week looks a bit better, which is encouraging.”

“Euro Charline is in great form,” he added. “I have been happy with her work and I'm delighted that we took an early decision to miss Royal Ascot with her, as that allowed me to freshen her up. The Falmouth certainly won't be easy as [G2 Duke Of Cambridge S. winner] Usherette was very impressive at Ascot, but you can't be frightened of one horse and I think that she has a good chance. Her last two runs have probably both been career-bests as she took on the colts on each occasion. In the Lockinge, I just wish she had been able to get a lead for a little longer, as she was in front a bit too soon.”

“She is more professional now than when she ran such a good race in this last year,” he noted. “She used to be a bit fiery but she is much more relaxed and has grown up a lot.”
