EPM Diagnosis for Mo Town

Mo Town | Sarah Andrew

'TDN Rising Star' Mo Town (Uncle Mo), an impressive winner of last fall's GII Remsen S. at Aqueduct, has been diagnosed with the neurologic disease EPM [Equine Protozoal Myeloencephalitis], according to a press release from trainer Tony Dutrow.

Campaigned in partnership by Mrs. John Magnier, Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Dutrow's Team D, the bay followed a fifth-place finish in the GII Risen Star S. with a well-beaten seventh-place finish in last weekend's GI Wood Memorial S.

Mo Town has been sent back to Ashford Stud and was immediately evaluated by their medicine specialist who found him to be suffering from EPM,” Dutrow said. “Diagnosis is unfortunate, but we are happy to find the cause of his recent poor performances. The colt is gone on immediate intense treatment and we are hopeful of a quick recovery so he can return to training as soon as possible.”
