BEING THERE (FR) (c, 2, Dubawi {Ire}–Beauty Parlour {GB} {G1SW-Fr, $713,308}, by Deep Impact {Jpn}), the €1.4 million GOFORB sale-topping son of the 2012 G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches heroine and G1 Prix de Diane runner-up Beauty Parlour who proved the star turn of the Wildenstein family's yearling dispersal there in September, had been second on debut to Saturday's G2 Superlative S. protagonist Bullington Bandit (Ire) (Canford Cliffs {Ire}) in a 6 1/2-furlong novice contest at Newbury June 15. Placed in a close-up second early, the 11-10 favourite gained a slight lead passing the quarter pole and stuck to his guns gamely to hold the race's eye-catcher, Joseph Allen's newcomer Doswell (Giant's Causeway), by a head. Ironically, it was Allen who was the underbidder on the winner at Keeneland. Winning trainer Charlie Appleby said, “He was very green at home and showed that on his first run. I have to thank the guys at Chelmsford, as I took him there for a bit more experience and he travelled very well and picked up well there 10 days ago and I was confident he'd be a lot more professional today.” Of future targets, he added, “He's a nice horse who will progress. I don't think he is the type for the [G2] Vintage Stakes. We will see how he comes out of it.” Beauty Parlour, who is set to be offered by The Castlebridge Consignment at the Goffs November Sale in foal to Kingman (GB), was one of the Wildensteins's best performers of recent years and this is her first foal. Her next was a daughter of Dansili (GB) who was snapped up for €450,000 at last year's November Sale by White Birch Farm which includes Joseph Allen. Beauty Parlour's full-brother Barocci (Jpn) captured the Listed Prix Omnium II and was placed in the G3 Prix du Prince d'Orange, GII City of Hope Mile S. and GII American H. This is also the family of the dual Australian Horse of the Year Might and Power (NZ) (Zabeel {NZ}), winner of the GI Melbourne Cup, G1 Cox Plate and G1 Caulfield Cup among others, and also Hong Kong's champion miler and sire Lucky Owners (NZ). Lifetime Record: 2-1-1-0, $9,905. Video, sponsored by Fasig-Tipton.
