Dubawi's Left Hand Strikes in the Psyche

Left Hand | Scoop Dyga

Fourth in the Oct. 4 G1 Prix Marcel Boussac at Lonchamp after registering a debut win there Sep. 3, Left Hand opened her sophomore campaign with a sixth in a hot conditions event at Maisons-Laffitte Apr. 19 and was just off the board in the May 16 G1 Prix Saint-Alary at this track. The homebred chestnut fared best of the rest when second to the hitherto unbeaten La Cressonniere (Fr) (Le Havre {Ire}) in the June 19 G1 Prix de Diane at Chantilly last time and justified even-money favouritism with a richly deserved first black-type score here. Positioned in third for the most part, she loomed large off the home turn and kept on strongly under mainly whipless urging once taking over inside the final quarter mile to safely hold the late rush of Lakalas for a career high. “She really deserved to win such a race after running so many good races without reward, especially last time in the Prix de Diane,” commented winning conditioner Carlos Laffon-Parias. “There's no doubt she needs further so the target is the [Sept. 11 G1] Prix Vermeille. We want to keep her fresh for that so she will bypass the [Aug. 23 G2] Prix de la Nonette [at this track] and go straight to Chantilly.”

Left Hand is a half-sister to the unraced 2-year-old colt Acrobate (GB) (Oasis Dream {GB}) and Listed Prix Charles Laffitte victrix Bilissie (GB) (Dansili {GB}), and is the second stakes winner for her G2 Prix de Royallieu-winning dam. The next dam is Featherquest (GB) (Rainbow Quest), who produced a G1 Grand Prix de Saint-Cloud heroine and 'TDN Rising Star' Plumania (GB) (Anabaa). The third dam Featherhill (Fr) (Lyphard) had the G1 Prix Lupin hero Groom Dancer from a mating with Rainbow Quest's sire Blushing Groom (Fr), and includes the G1 Poule d'Essai des Poulains victor Falco (Pivotal {GB}), Japanese champion sprinter Kinshasa No Kiseki (Aus) (Fuji Kiseki {Jpn}), and Australian Group 1 winners Absolutely (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) and Abbey Marie (Aus) (Redoute's Choice {Aus}) among her descendants. Featherhill is a half to G1 Prix Vermeille winner Indian Rose (Fr) (General Holme) and is also closely related to G1 Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe heroine Danedream (Ger) (Lomitas {GB}).
