'TDN Rising Star' and champion Drefong (Gio Ponti–Eltimaas, by Ghostzapper) has been purchased by the Shadai Group and will enter stud next year at Shadai Stallion Station in Hokkaido, Japan. Trained by Bob Baffert, Drefong was raced by Susan and Charles Chu's Baoma Corporation to three Grade I wins: in last year's GI King's Bishop S. and GI Breeders' Cup sprint en route to Eclipse honors for champion sprinter, and in this August's GI Forego S. at Saratoga. The $200,000 KEENOV weanling and $450,000 KEESEP yearling is out of a half-sister to champion juvenile Action This Day (Kris S.). He retires with a record of 9-6-0-0 and earnings of $1,538,385.

A statement from the Chus read: “He gave to us and our extended family so much pleasure and leaves us with some wonderful memories. We thank our trainer Bob Baffert for taking great care of Drefong and making him an outstanding champion. With his beautiful looks and natural ability we are sure he will be very well supported in Japan and we will look forward to seeing his young foals.”
