Destin Breezes Towards Belmont

Twin Creeks Racing Stables and Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners' Destin (Giant's Causeway) began his preparations for the June 11 GI Belmont S. Friday with a half-mile breeze in :48.22 (2/34) over the Belmont training track.

“He breezed in :48 and change with a nice gallop out,” said Byron Hughes, assistant to trainer Todd Pletcher. “He really came out [of the race] in fine form. He did well.”

Also on the worktab for the Pletcher barn was Eclipse's GI La Troienne S. winner Curalina (Curlin), who worked four furlongs in :50.20 in preparation for the GI Ogden Phipps S. on the Belmont undercard. Stonestreet Stables and the Coolmore contingent's GII Charles Town Classic winner Stanford (Malibu Moon), who was scratched from Friday's GIII Sagamore Spirit Pimlico Special S. in favore of the June 11 GI Metropolitan H., also went to the training track Friday morning, covering five panels in 1:01.50.

Winner of the GIII Sam F. Davis S. Feb. 13 and GII Lambholm South Tampa Bay Derby Mar. 12, the full-brother to GISW Creative Cause finished sixth last time in the GI Kentucky Derby May 7.
