STUDY OF MAN (IRE) (c, 2, Deep Impact {Jpn}–Second Happiness, by Storm Cat), who gave Stephane Pasquier a temporary scare exiting the widest stall as he lost his left iron for a few strides, quickly recovered to press the pace in a close-up second. Taking over from Near Gold (GB) (Dansili {GB}) with two furlongs remaining, the 22-5 shot asserted to beat that rival by two lengths as they pulled five lengths clear of the rest. The winner is a grandson of the great Miesque (Nureyev), arguably the Niarchos's most famous female as the multiple champion of England, France and the U.S. Her influence extends far and wide, with her daughter East of the Moon (Private Account) bringing up the rare Classic double of G1 Poule d'Essai des Pouliches and G1 Prix de Diane before adding the G1 Prix Jacques le Marois to her tally, while her most accomplished son Kingmambo captured three group 1 contests including the Poule d'Essai des Poulains before achieving renown as a significant sire presence. Miesque's descendants include another Poulains hero in Karakontie (Jpn) (Bernstein) who emulated that brilliant mare by succeeding in the GI Breeders' Cup Mile, the European champion Rumplestiltskin (Ire) (Danehill) whose daughter Tapestry (Ire) (Galileo {Ire}) won the G1 Yorkshire Oaks and the G1 Dubai Turf hero Real Steel (Jpn) (Deep Impact {Jpn}). Just this year, two more from the esteemed branch in Autocratic (GB) (Dubawi {Ire}) and Alpha Centauri (Ire) (Mastercraftsman {Ire}) made their own mark by winning the G3Brigadier Gerard S. and Listed Coolmore Stud Irish E.B.F. Fillies Sprint S. respectively. The dam, who has yet to produce a black-type performer, also has an as-yet unraced 3-year-old son of the operation's Arc hero Bago (Fr) and a yearling colt by Galileo (Ire).
