Darley Mares Bound for Galileo

Galileo | Coolmore

Darley will be sending some mares to be covered by Coolmore's Galileo (Ire) in 2018, Godolphin group chief executive Joe Osborne confirmed to The Irish Field this weekend. The announcement marks a continuation of the policy change enacted since Osborne took over in June, as Godolphin has purchased several yearlings sired by Coolmore stallions at both Keeneland in Kentucky and also at the Goffs Orby Sale, following 15 years of avoiding stock sired by Coolmore's roster at the sales or sending mares to the Coolmore breeding shed.

Asked by The Irish Field this week if Sheikh Mohammed would be sending mares to Galileo, Osborne, “I'd say we will, yes. That would be the next step. Because Dubawi (Ire) has been a great stallion for us, we've got a lot of nice Dubawi fillies. Maybe some of them going to Galileo is a good fit from a pedigree point of view and would present good possibilities for the future.”

A Coolmore spokesperson has indicated to The Irish Field that this is likely to happen in 2018.
